| After thirty years of working in porcelain, the material still fascinates
and often frustrates my efforts to master its use. If the cobalt carbonate is too thick it will
disturb the glaze on top, or if I have some of its pale lavender on my fingertips when I pick it
up to glaze, it will come out of the kiln with a permanent crime-solving print. My Scandinavian
heritage, along with life in the country where deer freely roam through the yard, has influenced
my design choices, as can be seen in these photographs of recent work.
